The George Hotel

This is a hidden gem - despite the little bit of building work it worked! No noise from any of the work they were doing and absolutely comfortable, clean and spacious room with all you could need. As much as you shouldn’t the biscuits were amazing! this local hotel is in the town with good parking, shops, next to the river and even managed a run down to Stonehenge so I found it a fantastic location. Then there is the food excellent breakfast with a great choice and variety well cooked and very tasty!! The evening meals were just as good I was looking forward to the ragu I saw online but soon guessed this was a seasonal dish so went for the delicious chicken schnitzel the mushroom sauce was amazing - drooling thinking about it! If you are wanting a central base for visiting this historic area I would definitely recommend staying here! The staff too many fantastic people to mention so I apologise for not doing so but thank you all (Jackie and Grace) amazing would definitely be staying again!!

What a fabulous place The George Hotel is. Simply outstanding service from a team led from the front by Sam and Bryony. The front of house members of staff are critical in any business and Abi, Grace, Laura and Hugh really make an effort to welcome customers and it is very much appreciated. A special mention for the guy who keeps the fire roaring away! As well as the excellent service, the food, beverages and small selection of nuts are great. Thanks Team. 5/5

We were travelling back from Exeter to Canterbury and wanted an overnight stop somewhere so we could visit Stonehenge. For. 600 year old or so building, we were pleasantly surprised with how good it was. We had the large I thing superior room, this one was aviator themed. King sized bed, large enough room to open all of our suitcases and a bathroom that looked like it had been renovated nicely within the past couple of years. |The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast there, we enjoyed the food. There was a car park out the back.|It was the perfect pal e to stay for our needs.

The best hotel we've ever stayed in . From the minute I stepped in there I knew it was special. The receptionist was so kind. I had a call from a friend telling me my husbands best friend had been killed in a motorbike accident. She was so naturally professional she called my husbands work place. Gave me tissue and tea and sat with me. Room was immaculate and warm . Bed so huge and comfortable. Window seat was nice to sit and read my book. The girl on the evening bar was so lovely too she couldn't do enough to make our stay any nicer. The food was beautiful. Breakfast was plentiful. I Recommend the prawn and linguine pasta . I could go on and on. Everything was perfect. They are passionate about what they do and delivered everything above and beyond. It sparkles! Well done to you all . Will be back soon

We had a wonderful night here. It's the perfect location for visiting stonehenge. The building is beautifully decorated inside and quirky. Our room was lovely with an amazing free standing bath. Breakfast was nice and relaxing. Friendly welcoming receptionist. Overall very good value for money. I would definitely recommend it. 👌

We had such a wonderful time — the food was absolutely amazing, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Everything came out perfectly cooked and clearly made with care. A huge thank you to Briony, our server, who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from start to finish. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Can’t recommend The George (and Briony!) highly enough — we’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Briony was an absolute godsend when organising my ‘micro’ wedding reception. From the decorations to the service i cannot thank her enough. The rooms were lovely & the buffet spread was outstanding. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Attended for a roast dinner with the family. It's great that kids can eat for free and a three course meal. Service was lovely and staff are very warming and polite. The adults roast was disappointing, the Yorkshire was cold and rock hard, the potato's were cold. The meat was ok, but you know when it's not a joint of meet but those ones that comes already cut, bit like school dinners. Harsh I know, but don't that's just my view. SC added to bill without asking if we minded, but agin the service was good so couldn't really complain about that.
