Met up for lunch with my friend and her little dashound Frankie, I had booked a table for us and was warmly welcomed by the lovely owner and given our menu's. We were spoilt for choice especially as it was good wholesome food and homemade. Although quite full after our lunch we couldn't not try the delicious homemade scones. The food was fantastic, coffees made to our liking and so very glad it was our chosen place for a catch up. Worth every penny 😋😋😋😋

Not happy, we called in today, the place was empty except a threesome whom we had chatted to at the castle, they said they would try this place, we followed them down 5 mins later, they were seated, me and my partner were met at the door and was told it was fully booked, maybe it was my outdoor clothing? But no one was in, we walked on the town centre and passed 45 minutes later to get my £80k mercedes from the castle car park and hey to see the place still empty, if that wasnt the owner we spoke to you need to be aware your staff are turning away customers, wont bother again So back to our favourite The Blue Lion at CYM, so much better

Visited on Friday the 18th July 2025 with four friends. Two had a curry and three had variations on their specialist salads. All were excellent, The Old Crown really shows just what a salad can be. Excellent.

Friends took us to this delightful little cafe. I ordered the prawn and Avacado salad. Amazing variety of items in the salad and so fresh. I loved the raw courgette, the carrot and the Avacado was perfectly ripe.

Went to the Old Crown this morning, menus on the table waiting for us when we arrived. I amended a skinny breakfast by adding mushrooms, spinach and beans with no fuss. Was told to make it my own as it’s about nourishing people. Flat white arrived promptly and I got a couple of pieces of cake to take out. Love the short hand of the people taking orders, always good to have a mush and a bit of spin with your food. Good craic delivered with a wry smile. Had the pleasure of a very well behaved dog sitting next to me but no where near the food or table. It’s a dog friendly cafe so if you’re not up for that it’s not the place for you. Nice chat with some regulars, leisurely pace to the place, will definitely make a return visit.
