Best greasy spoon. Exactly what I wanted. Proper butchers quality sausages & bacon, with everything else being 5*. Prices are exceptionally reasonable. Staff are super friendly. Proper homey cafe atmosphere, decent coffee, great menu. Will be revisiting again very soon, definitely.

This cafe has been here for many years and continues to provide excellent food at very reasonable prices. All home cooked. Generous portions too. Breakfasts are well worth coming here for too. Bubble and Squeak is unmissable. Service is always friendly and the meals arrive without too long a wait. Kitchen is well organised and well staffed. It gets very busy at weekends, no bookings taken, but plenty of seating inside and outside tables if weather permits are available. Car park could do with some resurfacing m, but it's free and quite large. Highly recommend D's Diner for everyone who appreciates good food. My only grumble is that it isn't nearer to Colchester! Chelmsford people are really lucky! But it's well worth the drive, where ever you live.

This is a lovely little café, I had a breakfast and strawberry milkshake. Both tasted great. The price was reasonable, all the staff were polite and helpful. Would recommend this place

Not the cheapest and the service was questionable. Had to wait a while for my breakfast after being given a number. Customers after me had received their food, so I went to the kitchen to ask where mine was? Clearly it had had been forgotten/missed. No apology, but it was cooked fresh. As I was I a group, the others had to wait for me which made us late.

Classic greasy spoon cafe, and doesn’t pretend to be much else. The food was good and the staff attentive, so just what I needed in this respect, but the place is in desperate need of some renovation and decoration. The tables and other furniture were tired and didn’t look particularly clean. And the flush in the male toilet was a cable tie attached to the cistern (and didn’t work particularly well). The car park is spacious, but has a mix of gravel and an uneven surface. It does what it needs to, but take care if arriving on a motorcycle. I enjoyed the food overall and the portions were generous (I had Special 2 - a slightly smaller full English than the first option). If you’re in the market for a fry up, this’ll do you, but you may find better if you look slightly further afield.

Proper Full English breakfast😃😃Good quality sausage and bacon. Fried bread was really good. Egg cooked perfectly, really tasty bubble and squeak. Mushrooms nicely cooked and to top it all off tinned tomatoes which go so well with a fried breakfast. Overall a very good value popular place. Order at counter and they give you an order number. Which they call out and bring your food to you. Well run place, nice and clean and good friendly staff. Thank you for a great breakfast 😃😃

Always usually very impressed here but we turned up today at 1355 only to be told there’s no hot food. Managed to get a curry for my step son but partner and I were told nothing from Breakfast menu and no chips. It says last orders are 2pm so would expect full menu to be available. Audible moans from the kitchen as we are waiting. Disappointing as we thought it we had time up our sleeve. Will have second thoughts on returning now despite the previous visits. When food arrived it was almost thrown down as well. Clearly didn’t want us to be there.
